The Dedication of Angela’s Picture Book Room

Honoring a beloved friend.

In July 2023, the Friends – and the BFJ family at large – lost a treasured and beloved champion of the Library and its mission. Angela M. Stevens, a former educator and speech therapist, served for many years as both a member of the Friends committee and as the President of the B.F. Jones Memorial Library Board of Directors. She was the driving force behind the early-2000s redevelopment of the Children’s Department into its current three-room form, and so, with the work that has been done from 2023-2025, including general repainting, the installation of new bookshelves and seating, and the creation of a beautiful mural in the Picture Book Room (by local artist Carrie Havranek), it felt only right to dedicate the Picture Book Room in her honor.
